Matthew Suzuki

Bio/CV: 

Matthew Suzuki is a senior studying Japanese and Political Science with an emphasis in international relations. His areas of interest include international security and emerging technologies. Previously, he was a General James Doolittle fellow at the Alexander Hamilton Society’s Berkeley Chapter. Currently, he is an undergraduate apprentice at the Berkeley Risk and Security Lab. This past summer, Matthew completed training at Marine Corps Officer Candidates School in Quantico, Virginia where he earned the title of United States Marine. He will commission as a Marine Officer upon graduation and hopes to work in combat arms or military intelligence. Presently, Matthew is helping other officer candidates prepare for the physical and mental rigors of Officer Candidates School. Matthew has also enjoyed working for Contra Costa County Search and Rescue. He is trained as a Type 3 searcher and is qualified in urban and low-angle search techniques. Matthew has participated in various local and high-profile searches from the Berkeley Hills to the Sierra Nevada. For fun, Matthew enjoys folk and ballroom dancing, as well as reading classical literature and philosophy.
