Fall 2024 Helen Diller Institute Visiting Scholar; Professor of Communication Studies at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev
Amit Schejter is a 2024-2025 Helen Diller Institute Visiting Scholar. Amit Schejter’s research examines inequality in communication as he focuses on applying the capabilities approach to communication policy. More recently he is engaged in examining the right to communicate and the challenges it faces in Israel. Schejter has authored or edited eight books and over 80 journal articles, law reviews, and book chapters in five languages and has presented his research globally as well as across the US. He has served as head of the department of communication studies and as dean of the faculty of humanities and social sciences at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and as president of Oranim College in the North of Israel. An activist seeking to apply his scholarship to the benefit of society, professor Schejter serves as the chairperson of the Association for Civil Rights in Israel and as a board member of the Jaffa Theatre - the Center for Arabic-Hebrew Culture.
