Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellow at the Helen Diller Institute, UC Berkeley
Omri Cohen is a Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellow at the Helen Diller Institute. Trained in Political Science, his research focuses on democratic populism, digital media, and local governance. Specifically, he investigates left-populism in the U.S. and its democratizing ambitions and practices, digital activism and user perceptions of the democratic potential of digital media, and populism at the local level. His current project explores the conceptualization and operationalization of “urban populism” and examines the interactions between populism on local and national scales. Cohen completed his Ph.D. at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in 2025. Previously, he studied English literature and has published research on minority literatures, education, gender, and empathy.
